How long does pistachio cream last?

Storage times depend on whether it's homemade or store-bought:

Homemade pistachio cream:

  • Room temperature: 3-5 days (in a cool, dry place)
  • Refrigerated: Up to 2 weeks in an airtight container
  • Frozen: Up to 3 months — thaw in the fridge overnight before use

Store-bought pistachio cream:

  • Unopened: Check the expiration date (typically 12-18 months)
  • Opened: 4-6 weeks refrigerated (varies by brand — always check the label)

Signs it's gone bad: Off smell, mold, separation that doesn't remix, or rancid/bitter taste. When in doubt, throw it out. Natural nut butters with no preservatives spoil faster than processed versions.
